Cop Camera TV
How to make the police behave
In what Academics at Cambridge University call a “profound sea change in modern policing”.
Before the cameras 1,539 complaints were lodged against police in the areas examined, amounting to 1.2 complaints per officer. After the cameras the number of complaints had fallen to 133 for the year across all sites – 0.08 per officer.
“I cannot think of any [other] single intervention in the history of policing that dramatically changed the way that officers behave, the way that suspects behave, and the way they interact with each other,” Barak Ariel, the lead researcher, told the BBC.
Better police public relations will lead to more reporting and cooperation.
